Frequently asked questions

What can I do with the free self-hosted version?

Everything. There are no feature gates. Run unlimited sequences, use all block types, scale as far as your hardware allows. The only restriction is you cannot offer Orch8 as a hosted service to third parties.

When do I need a commercial license?

The BUSL Additional Use Grant excludes offering Orch8 to third parties on a hosted or embedded basis that competes with the licensor's products. Contact us for a commercial license if that may describe your use.

What does the BUSL-1.1 license allow?

Production use for your own applications, modifications, self-hosting for your team or company. The only restriction is offering Orch8 as a competitive hosted/embedded service. The license converts to Apache 2.0 after 4 years.

Can I use Orch8 in my startup?

The Additional Use Grant permits production use unless you offer Orch8 to third parties on a hosted or embedded basis that competes with the licensor's products. Review the repository license for your exact version and contact us if your model is close to that boundary.

What happens if I outgrow self-hosting?

The managed Cloud runs the same engine, but migration still requires exporting or redeploying definitions and planning how in-flight state and integrations move. Contact us to plan the transition.
